as said before, i going to do my reflections on my council term=).

throughout the whole journey as a treasurer in council, there has been ups and downs. i agree that my job is overly and utterly simple..almost everyone can do it. but i guess its the responsibility that comes along with my role tt makes it a bit tough. collecting money is not n easy feat for the 6th. it takes me the shortest 1 week to finish collecting money and 1 month for the longest. i had this part of the job the most. as much as i noe it may be difficult for some to pay up, i still gotta complete my task.

so, my apologies to ppl who were under constant pressure from me to pay up. dun worry..the loanshark would not be after u anymore=).

hmm. as an exco member, there was 1 period of time where i felt utterly useless as i felt that there was nth for me to contribute. yupp..going for meetings and exco meetings were like, play time for me..listening to the rest contribute and laughing at the crap they say when we side-tracked. nonetheless, it was enjoyable and i did learnt some stuff from my dear excos=).

but i was glad that i was able to snap out of the 'playing mode' and get down to work as i started to hop around in the different committees to help=). it was from then on that i felt that i was doing sth for council, contributing rather than wasting my time laughing and fooling around. i learnt a lot of stuff as i joined the different committees.

things that i have learnt from them:
pubco- i learnt a bit on designing as well as the making of brochure and movie.
welco- looking at little details, saikang-ing, planning of games and logistics stuff
feeco- manpower allocation, camp planning
proco- programme planning, AV requirements

so all in all, my council term has been fulfilling for me. i have learnt different things, gained the experiences and enjoyed myself with the company of my fellow councillors=).

mr yeo once talked to the 6th council and he asked as 3 qns. after much thoughts, these are the answers to the qns.

1)why did u join council and have u achieved wat u wanted?
i joined council out of passion and love for council. i have been in council since secondary sch and prefect in primary. i enjoy wat i have been doing so far=). of coz, i have learnt tons of stuff from council, as well as from courses that i have attended due to the fact that i was a councillor.

as i joined council in the 1st place, i had no specific aims of wat i want to achieve out of council. the basic thing was juz to gain experience and widen my social circle. i believe that i have achieved wat i wanted as mentioned before, and i have a great bunch of friends now=)!

2)any regrets? things that should have been done but not?
i have totally no regrets in joining council. i have gained more than i lost. although i had to sacrifice my own leisure time for council, coming back for meetings on sats from morning to night, slogging hard for the preparations of events and post events as well as the many many other late nights i have stayed up to do stuff for council, i have never regretted doing all these for council=). regrets..never!

hmm. there were quite a few events that we planned that we didn't managed to carry out, one mainly talentnight. this was one event that i really hope we could have done it becoz i would mean a lot to us, as well as the last chance for the j2s to perform before the exams. unfortunately, tight schedule, we weren't allowed to carry out the event.
i think we could have done a bit more by interacting more with the different CCA leaders. we sorta lacked at this part, but on the other hand, it wasn't an easy task. haha.
on the exco level, we could have allowed more councillors to take up the roles as I/Cs for different committees instead of us taking up the responsibilities. it was kinda depriving the rest for opportunity to shine as well as learn and taxing on our part.
yupp..i think that's pretty much abt it though i believe i forgot some of the stuff. haha.

3)wat do you want to tell the 7th council?
hmm..i'll try to put this in point form.
-keep the passion for council burning. without it, u can't complete ur task and feel the satisfaction.
-ignite the fire in others who don't feel the same as u do
-don't assume things will happen. check and ask when unsure.
-remain on good terms with the sch management, the teachers as well as the office people. it comes in real handy when u are carrying out the events.
-dare to experience to new things. come up with new ideas..think outta box
-muz consider pre-planning and post-planning details
-always rmb to look at the things at the smallest details
-work well together with ppl around u. tolerate, accomodate and compromise
-take iniative! very important! dun wait for ppl to ask for help, always offer to help when u see the others in need
-communicate! dun assume things will fit in nicely if everyone juz simply do their part of the job.
-dun neglect ur studies. muz study hard for all the subjects!
-appreciate the help from others..AV ppl, CCA leaders....most importantly the teacher advisers!

yupp..that's pretty much for my reflections on my council term. i gotta stop here coz i need to do some writing of cards for ppl..or i won't get any slp tonight. haha..shall continue with anknowledgements tml..after i'm back from the bbq at mr tong's house=)

council, i love.

always loved.
